The Abbey Closet
The first question many people ask is, What do I wear? If possible please dress in some form of simple medieval attire. You are welcome to all our services in whatever you are comfortable in, of course, but "going in garb" is in the spirit of the medieval Village celebrations we keep alive. You may feel more special wearing special clothing, and we would love to help you give it a try! If you don't have anything feel free to let us know. We may have something for you. Loxley Abbey has an assortment of garb to loan to guests and new Villagers, just ask to see it. Domina Samantha sews a variety of simple peasant garments so you may contact her for having something custom made for you. Here are some examples from history:
The second question many people ask is, What do I bring? We always like to make music (or noise! LOL), so you are welcome to bring your drums, bells, pots & pans, anything to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord". We have some extra instruments for Villagers and visitors of all ages!
Also, for feast days, please bring your own table service for each person, a take-away trash bag, and a scrumptious dish to pass. We try to use wooden or ceramic feast gear, whenever possible, because it is durable and reusable. Always think of Mother Earth!
